The Genealogical Society of Finland

The Genealogical Society of Finland has an excellent website for researchers scared to death of the Finnish language. The English version of "Suomen Sukututkimusseura" has articles on Finnish history and culture, images and transcriptions of Finnish gravestones, and (best of all) the HisKi project—an ongoing effort to transcribe all the country's early parish records. Parish records are the single most important source of information in Finland, and include not only christenings, marriages, and burials, but information on people moving into or out of parishes. The HisKi search engine is incredibly useful, easily handling variations in the spelling of names.
